MT. KILIMAMBOGO; HERE WE COME!

Have you ever experienced climbing a mountain with a multitude of fellow Christians?
Have you ever had Holy Communion at the top of a mountain?
Have you ever scaled a mountain burdened and in fervent prayer, only to descend a happy, freed soul oozing praises and worship?

The Diocese of Mt. Kenya South gently invites all Christians, Clergy, Lay Readers and Evangelists to grace this year’s Shiloh Prayers on 25th January 2025, at the top of the iconic Mt. Kilimambogo also known as Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park.

Last year an army of prayer warriors 1,500 strong, drawn from across The Diocese, scaled Mt. Longonot to consolidate their collective petitions on high.

Therein the multitude engulfed the Oloongonot Crater in hearty praises, dance, worship before celebrating Holy Communion with Rt. Rev’d Canon Charles Muturi at a record elevation of 9,000ft.
Their descent was accompanied by the unmistakable melodious tunes of victory!

Are you heavily-laden, shackled by sin or tired of iniquity? Are you grateful and thankful for The Lord’s providence? Are you expecting more grace and breakthrough for yourself and your family?

Mark the date above, write down your petitions and prayer items to God and purpose to join us as we seek the very face of God with ultimate faith.

Grab your hiking gear, dust of your climbing shoes, seize your climbing stick and carry a heart willing to be transformed.

We will have fun meandering upon the ever-winding trail as we enjoy the breathtaking landscapes of distant highlands, spanning the picturesque Athi plains and an awesome skyline of Nairobi City even as we utilize the designated prayer points.

At the peak of Mt. Kilimambogo we will have a one-on-one with The Creator as our vision takes in His magnificent creation from horizon to horizon while the awesomely fresh breeze caresses the sense of touch.

A Holy Communion Service will be convened at the peak at exactly 10:00AM by The Sixth Mt. Kenya South at a resounding elevation of 2,146 metres coupled with a sermon on the mountain.

As you make plans for the Shiloh Prayers, kindly note the following:

1.⁠ ⁠The Mt. Kilimambogo Park Gate opens at 6:00AM. Groups and individuals attending are encouraged to check in early to ensure ample time to ascend (3 – 4 hours) inorder to make it for the commencement of the Holy Communion Service at 10:00 AM.

2.⁠ ⁠Charges – Adults ~ Kshs 300

•⁠ ⁠Children ~ Kshs 215

•⁠ ⁠Groups and individuals are politely requested to pay the park entry fees (via ecitizen) well in advance before the material day to prevent delays occasioned by system malfunction as experience in our sojourn last year due to an overwhelming influx of visitors.

3.⁠ ⁠All ADULTS should carry their National Identification Card (ID).
•⁠ ⁠All CHILDREN should be accompanied by adults.

4.⁠ ⁠Kilimambogo is among the few mountains in the world that can be scaled with a 4×4 vehicle.
•⁠ ⁠Hence, those that want to participate but unable to climb personally, can utilize their vehicles with the following requirements:
•⁠ ⁠Entry of a 6 passenger and below vehicle in the park attracts a cost of Ksh 300.
•⁠ ⁠The vehicle must have a 4×4 propulsion with amicable power and clearance to navigate the rugged uphill dirt trail.

5.⁠ ⁠Please cut your toe nails, make use of hiking shoes, a cap and a climbing stick.

6.⁠ ⁠Bring along a full water bottle per your hydration requirements, plus bites for energy boosts if required. (One time use plastic bottles are NOT ALLOWED within Kenyan National Parks).
